A solemn event dedicated to June 15 - National salvation Day was held on June 13 in the Main Department of the Internal Troops. First of all, a minute of silence was observed for the dear memories of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for sovereignty and territorial integrity of our republic, and the national anthem was performed to the accompaniment of Exemplary Directive Military Orchestra of the Internal Troops in the event.
The participants of the event watched a film named "from National Salvation to Renaissance" about the life and the selfless services to our people of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Then, Dr.h.s. Adalat Gasimov, head of the Department of Aliyevs’ studies in History Institution of Azerbaijan national academy of Sciences made a report on the topic of “National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the savior of the Azerbaijani people, the architect of the independence and statehood”.
The reporter congratulating the event participants on the occasion of the National salvation Day said that the genius person Heydar Aliyev had written that date to the history of Azerbaijan as a remarkable day. He particularly emphasized that our national Leader Heydar Aliyev had protected the Republic of Azerbaijan from disintegration at that time, eliminated the socio-political crisis raging in the country, and laid the foundation of socio-economic development: “Heydar Aliyev, who demonstrated a real self-sacrifice as the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 1991-1993 for salvation of that land, returned to power with insistent demand of people. Heydar Aliyev was elected chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 15, 1993. National Leader Heydar Aliyev caused a revolution in socio-political, social, economic, scientific and cultural life of the country with his return to the leadership of Azerbaijan in 1993. From that time on, an independent state building process corresponding to international norms and principles was started. The mission of rescue was his destiny. Thus, June 15 entered into the history of Azerbaijan as the National Salvation Day”.
Dr.h.s. A.Gasimov, who said that the National Leader had declared the future development strategy of Azerbaijan statehood in the meeting of the National Assembly held on June 15, 1993, and carried out them in the following years, noted that the wise steps taken by our savior for Azerbaijani people would be kept in our mind forever: “If gaining independence was the prerequisite, the second important issue was to maintain and develop sovereignty. That turned into reality thanks to the will of the National Leader. He created the compensation of our national statehood. Despite all obstacles, the socio-political stability was established in the country in the shortest time. Under such a complex political condition, Heydar Aliyev became the guaranty of our state independence”.
Bringing to the attention of the event participants the immeasurable services of the genius leader in establishment of the Armed Forces, the historian said that establishment process of the current powerful army of the Republic of Azerbaijan was initiated from that time: “As the result of progressive measures taken by the Great Leader, significant steps were taken in formation of the Armed Forces, establishment of a regular army capable of protecting Azerbaijan's national interests, and in defense of our lands, as well as all political and diplomatic means were put into operation, and in consequence a ceasefire having great importance for our country was signed in May of 1994”.
A.Gasimov, noting in the end of his speech that the date of June 15 is celebrated with proud by our people, underlined that today the political heritage of the Great Leader is successfully continued by his worthy follower, the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the independent state of Azerbaijan is developing rapidly.
Afterwards, the conductor of the event reminded the completion 25th anniversary of the return National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, one of the prominent figures of the XX the century, the Grate Leader Heydar Aliyev of great leader Heydar Aliyev to the republic governance, and said that the revered Azerbaijani people have been celebrating this remarkable date as the National Salvation Day since 1997.
