Dear fellows in arms!

The publication of “Asgar” (Soldier), the military patriotism newspaper of the Internal Troops has coincided with a very hard period of Azerbaijan. The publication of “Asgar” newspaper the first issue of which was released on December 16, 1992 was a significant event.
From its first day of edition “Asgar” newspaper has been on the same battle-front together with our sons being ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the motherland. The source that the newspaper had trusted and relied on was the soldiers standing in the trenches. In a word, as the most reliable fellow-in-arm of the soldiers it has moved along together with them in the battle with enemy.
“Asgar” newspaper, which aims to educate the Internal Troops personnel in a spirit of patriotism and loyalty to the motherland, has been loyal to the idea of military patriotism since its establishment. “Asgar” do not forget the yesterday of the Internal Troops, and from time to time turns the clock back to those days.

Service and fighting activity of our military servicemen demonstrating bravery in fulfillment of service and fighting tasks and in the battles for the sake of territorial integrity of our republic are always published with successful writings in “Asgar” newspaper. Today the dynamic development, construction and landscaping works in the Internal Troops, as well as the brave and selfless labors of our military servicemen are reflected in our newspaper.
In this regard we could say that our heroic history, modern army building and promotion of positive improvements carried out within the troops are comprehensively covered in the pages of the newspaper.
Meanwhile, “Asgar” has not denied its selfless labor in strengthening military discipline, enhancing the combat spirit in military personnel, and development of the troops. The Internal Troops personnel look forward for each issue of “Asgar”. As the first edition of “Asgar” newspaper, which is a part of the troops’ life, coincides with an honorable period of Azerbaijan’s destiny, when we gained independence, it has lived the same destiny. Such a great honor that “Asgar” is of the same age with our independent Azerbaijan.
The life of “Asgar” will last as long as our everlasting independence and statehood. We believe that the articles about the good news of victory will replace each other in the next issues of our newspaper...

    Dear readers!

    It is already 22 years that “Asgar”, the patriotic military newspaper of the Internal Troops, which has paced off with all pains of war, has faced with tough exams, strengthened in battles, and has gathered many skilled heroes, is put at your disposal. A press organ being weighed down with the sorrow and care of the motherland, maintaining its position from time to time, and addressing only to the militant sons of motherland, who take care of their lands, stands on the background of these years. Within 22 years, stepping forward shoulder by shoulder wuth the Internal Troops, we have witnessed its establishment, formation, its bravery demonstrated during the combats for liberation of the motherland, its standing firm in protection of our tranquility and statehood, the painful path it passed through, its success and development. We feel responsibility and excitement at our each time when we meet readers. We understand that any word said of the enemy can cast shadow on our aim. We wanted to write close to your souls and in return to hear pleasant words from you. We have accepted your consent with pleasure, and treated your comments with responsibility. If these statements were resonable we have tried to eliminate it quickly and not to repeat it again.
    Release of “Asgar” has coincided with a very hard period of Azerbaijan. It was such a period when there were a lot of newspapers serving different authorities and respective persons. The position and aim of those newspapers were unknown. And in such a chaotic period “Asgar” newspaper was released. We can bravely say that “Asgar” has all the time combated in one front, and addressed to people, to our sons, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of motherland and who are ready for it. The source that our associates had trusted and relied on was the soldiers standing in the trenches.
    It is not possible to recall those days without excitement. Our generation has not seen the war. We have only read in books, and watched in movies about war. We say that war is a disaster and tragedy. Many prominent intellectuals published battle-front newspapers when that disaster was breaking out. And that time, the high emotions created in the soldier by those newspapers were incredible.
    Such a necessary mission like publishing a battle-front newspaper in a time when our Azerbaijan was faced with a disaster was our destiny. It is a very honorable work, because the aim was not only to publish a newspaper. The purpose was to immortalize the path of struggle of the Internal Troops basing on real facts without any distortion in the unfair fight started against Azerbaijan. "Asgar" somehow overcame that work. Despite it came up against many difficulties – financial difficulty, lack of paper, moral shocks, “Asgar” facing all of them overcame each difficulty like the soldiers and officers whose path of struggle was immortalized by it.
    During  the painful war, the employees of the editorial office has all the time shared the sorrows of the sons sacrificing their lives for our territorial integrity and mothers, has consistently kept in touch with them, and tried to explain that their sons had been martyred for a sacred purpose.
    “Asgar” get the soldiers familiarized with the prominent personalities, writers, poets, and art figures Azerbaijan in its pages.
    The role of our newspaper in development of military journalism, which has not improved so much in Azerbaijan, is undeniable. Our journalist colleagues, who took their first steps in “Asgar”, already work in other press organs.
    “Asgar” do not forget the yesterday of the Internal Troops, and from time to time turns the clock back to those days. Today, the rapid constructive works and the dynamic development in the Internal Troops, as well as the brave and selfless labor of our officers and soldiers protecting our state, public order and the constitutional rights of the citizens from  criminal and other illegal intentions.
    All spheres of the Internal Troops’ cooperation with the relevant authorities of foreign countries, especially with the Gendarmerie General Command of the Turkey republic are stage by stage passing into history from the very beginning.
    22 years have passed since the first release of “Asgar”, which has turned into an honorable part of the Internal Troops’ life. As our 22 year background coincides with an honorable period of Azerbaijan’s destiny, when we gained independence, we have lived the same destiny. Such a great honor that “Asgar” is of the same age with our independent Azerbaijan.
    The life of “Asgar” will last as long as our everlasting independence and statehood. We hope that the articles smelling gunpowder and trench will no more occupy the pages of our newspaper. Years will bring us more successful and honorable days.    
    Of course, today’s staff will be loyal to the patriotic style of the founders of “Asgar”, and will maintain this position for ever.
